An independent voice for cinema, music, theatre, art, and festivals.
Elforga is a media platform devoted to arts journalism and film criticism, founded on the belief that art is a finely wrought craft that deserves careful reading. Its name, al-forga (الفرجة), is the Arabic for the pleasure of watching a show; we set out to make that watching an informed one, with rigorous critical readings and in-depth coverage of festivals and the film industry in Egypt and the Arab world, alongside an open window onto the latest international trends and critical analysis.
Elforga exists to give culture the same rigor and urgency as breaking news. We report on the people, performances, and ideas shaping cinema, music, theatre, visual art, and festivals — treating cultural coverage as journalism, not just listings.
From film premieres and album releases to stage productions, gallery openings, and festival programs, our newsroom follows five beats: Cinema, Music, Theatre, Art, and Festivals. Every article carries a byline, a publish date, and — when something changes — a visible correction.
We publish in Arabic, English, and French because culture doesn't stop at a language barrier. We separate reporting from opinion, credit our sources, and correct our mistakes in the open rather than editing them away quietly.
